Hey Siri: Play 'Summer Nights'

Finals are over and summer is finally here, and we at The Edge can’t wait to indulge some of our favorite summer activities! The warm air, golden sunsets and starry

night skies make summer nights the most magical time of the year, and the perfect time to soak up the weather, grab your friends and enjoy the outdoors. But we

know not everyone wants to spend time outside by going on a long hike, taking a hilly bike ride or kayaking, so we’re here to help. Whether you’re in the mood for a

relaxing yoga class or a high energy concert, we’ve got you covered. Here are our must-do outdoor activities to try before the season slips away!

1. Outdoor movie night

There’s nothing quite like laying under the stars and watching an outdoor movie surrounded by your friends, enjoying some of the world’s most iconic films. Local

parks and trendy rooftops often have movie screenings once summer starts, and it’s a great way to take in the views and feel connected to nature. Make sure you

bring a cozy blanket and lots of snacks to complete your movie watching experience, and you’re guaranteed to make core memories with

whoever you choose to go with. Fresh air and good company are all you need to experience the big screen under the beauty of the night sky!

2. Live music in the park

Music in the park is a great way to blend the great outdoors and laid-back vibes all while listening to your favorite tunes. Regardless of if you’re into jazz, folk or pop

music, the sunset and cool breeze is the best atmosphere to take in the sounds of summer. Music in the park is an amazing free event that can turn any park into an

unforgettable concert to bring people together. Be sure to check out your local town or city’s social media accounts to see when the next music in the park is so you

take part in this timeless summer tradition.

3. Outdoor yoga

Mindfulness and self-care practices don’t stop during the summer, and adding an outdoor element to your wellness routine can be beneficial. Soaking up the sun

rays and hearing the sounds of nature around you can help to feel more connected and grounded while you’re practicing yoga movements and breathwork, ensuring

you stay calm and relaxed over summer break. Flowing through a yoga class at your local greenspace is a refreshing way to unplug and recharge after a long day or

detox from a stressful semester. Outdoor yoga is more than just relocating your workout, it’s a purposeful summertime activity that relaxes your mind and body,

so check to see if your community has any yoga classes coming up!

4. Food truck friday

Lastly, the perfect way to kick off any summer weekend is with Food Truck Friday! Each weekend, hundreds of parks and city streets are lined with unique food

trucks from local businesses. No matter if you’re in the mood for a savory bite or indulgent dessert, Food Truck Friday is the best place to satisfy any craving, find

something new you’ve never tried before and enjoy the fun lawn games that come with it. There’s something for everyone at Food Truck Friday and it is one of our

favorite weekly summer activities here at The Edge.

Summer is meant to be a restful time to enjoy the outdoors with those you love the most and to create memories to last a lifetime. From catching a movie under the

stars to grabbing a bite from your favorite local food truck, there’s many ways to make the most of your summer nights. These four activities are just a taste of what

summer has to offer, so grab your friends and start making those core memories, and make sure to tag us @theedgemag on Instagram so we can experience the fun

with you!
