OUR ETHOS

The Edge is a lifestyle magazine constructed by young creatives who have something to say. We produce thought provoking content about topics you already know, but from an angle you don’t. In essence, our audience first, inclusive approach allows us to share compelling stories related to fashion, lifestyle, feature stories, beauty and wellness that are accessible for all.

Every member, reader and follower of The Edge has the opportunity to speak up about the current injustices happening in our country and around the world. As a student-run publication and a part of the Elon University community, we are privileged to have a space that promotes diversity, equality, discussion and change. We all have strong voices that can be shared not only with our generation, but with everyone of any age, gender, race and identification. We will work to educate ourselves and our readers and to include voices that have not had opportunities to be heard.

We also acknowledge that we are operating on the land of the Eno, Tutelo, Saponi, Occaneechi, and Shakori Native people. We are gathered today on land that was traditionally part of the territory of the Saponi people, in the Piedmont of what is now the state of North Carolina. This area is not far from the “Great Trading Path”, used by both the native people of this area and non-native peoples during the early years of contact. The Saponi people, whose descendants include the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation Indian Tribe still thrive and live in this region, officially recognized by the state government of North Carolina. We pay respect to their elders past and present. The Occaneechi People (The Ye’sah), ask that you will keep these thoughts in mind, while here on their ancestral lands and treat it with the respect, love, and care that their Ancestors did, and as the Occaneechi Saponi people do so today.

We want our platform to be a space for discussion, education and a place to promote the change that needs to occur. We invite you to submit opinion pieces, stories, educational resources you have tried and other pieces of information you think can help continue the much needed discussion for change and equality, to elonedge@gmail.com. We hope to create a space for collaboration and education and encourage you to help us do so.
