STAFF WRITER

Staff Writers produce high-quality editorial content for The Edge's online publication and, if selected, the semester print issue. Writers are expected to collaborate closely with their assigned print team and the copy editing team throughout the writing and revision process.

Writers will have the opportunity to write for all subsections of The Edge. 

Fashion | Lookbooks, style guides, trend guides, and all things fashion and clothing

Beauty & Wellness | Makeup, hair, skincare, health/wellness, yoga, mental health

Lifestyle | College life, mental health, social issues, young adulthood, personal finance

Features | Profiles, events, and stories of people on campus, journalistic component involved

Travel | Travel guides, city reviews, packing guides

STAFF PHOTOGRAPHERS

Photographers produce editorial photography that supports the magazine's visual storytelling. You will collaborate with your assigned print team, attend planning brainstorm sessions before photoshoots, photograph assigned stories, upload edited images withing five days of each photoshoot, work with designers to ensure final images meet print quality standards, provide additional edits or revisions requested, and meet all photography deadlines.

LAYOUT DESIGNER

Layout Designers create visually cohesive layouts while collaborating closely with writers and photographers throughout the production process. You will design 2-3 print spreads under the direction of the Creative Director, must be comfortable using Adobe InDesign, meet weekly with your assigned print team, share design drafts throughout the design process, ensure all layouts meat publication standards for typography, spacing, sizing, and branding, collaborate with photographers, and submit finalized layouts by all production deadlines.

Copy Editor

Copy Editors work closely with writers to strengthen every article before publication, ensuring all online and print content is clear, accurate, and free of grammatical and stylistic errors. You will edit all assigned weekly online and print articles, look not only for grammar, punctuation, spelling, AP style but also clarity, structure, consistency, and follow The Edge brand guide. Provide constructive feedback via Google Doc comments and communicate directly with writers throughout the revision process, complete at least two rounds of edits per each assinged article, verify that revisions have been incorporated before final publication, work closely with the Online Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief to keep articles on schedule, and meet all editing deadlines.

The Design Chief oversees the print layout and design process, ensuring the magazine is visually cohesive, technically accurate, and production-ready. You will assemble the complete print issue in Adobe InDesign, work closely with Creative Director to ensure all thematic elements and visual identity is cohesive across designers’ work, assign article spreads to designers based on workload, strengths, and creative direction, design the magazine cover, letter from the editors, staff list, and one editorial spread, lead weekly design critiques at meetings, providing feedback and support to designers throughout the design window, edit and finalize spreads to ensure consistent layout, typography, spacing, and branding, prepare all print files to printer specifications, coordinate with the Editor-in-Chief during final proofing and implement required revisions before publication, and maintain organization of all design files, assets, and templates throughout production. 

Copy Chief

The Head Copy Chief leads the copy editing process and serves as the final quality check for The Edge. This role coordinates the copy editing team while actively editing, revising and proofreading every print article to ensure the magazine is publication-ready. You will assign copy editors to all weekly online and print articles, monitor the editing schedule to ensure all assigned articles are revised before publication, personally edit assigned online and print stories throughout the revision process, read and review every print article before publication, work closely with writers to strengthen organization, clarity, flow, and style, not just grammar, ensure writers address copy editing feedback before online articles are published, perform a final proofread of the completed print issue to identify and correct remaining spelling, grammar, formatting, and consistency errors before files are sent to print, collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and Online Managing Editor to maintain publication deadlines, and serve as the final editorial "eagle eye," ensuring the magazine is polished, accurate and free of avoidable errors.

ANALYTICAL DIRECTOR

The Analytics Director tracks trends, audience engagement, and content performance to help The Edge make smarter editorial decisions. This is an independent role that requires initiative and preparation for a brief presentation at our weekly meetings. You will monitor TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, online publications like Vogue and Cosmopolitan, and other relevant platforms for emerging trends in pop culture, fashion, beauty, entertainment, campus culture, and news, attend weekly staff meetings every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m, prepare and present a monthly trend report at our Wednesday meetings identifying topics, conversations, and formats that The Edge could adapt into online or print content, track online article performance and identify which stories, topics, headlines, and formats are performing best, each week, highlight a writer or article that performed particularly well on the online site, present regular performance insights to recommend future content, and identify opportunities to connect current trends to The Edge's audience and editorial identity rather than simply reporting what is trending. 

SOCIAL MEDIA STAFF

Create eye-catching, relevant, and engaging content for The Edge Instagram account as well as consistently post to Instagram stories and maintain our highlights. Create promotional graphics and captions for online and print content using Canva, publish Instagram content on your assigned posting day, stay informed about upcoming online publications, print announcements, recruitment events, and profit shares, coordinate behind-the-scenes coverage of photoshoots, meetings, launch events, and other organization activities, organize and schedule executive member "Day in the Life" takeovers and other recurring content series, coordinate with photographers, videographers, and writers to gather content, Utilize the staff Photocircle account to curate The Edge Instagram feed. Encourage staff members to add to Photocircle, and update our LinkedIn and Pinterest on a less frequent, as-needed basis.

Stylists

Stylists develop and execute the wardrobe and visual styling for The Edge photoshoots. You will collaborate with writers and photographers to understand each story's creative direction and develop appropriate styling, plan and coordinate wardrobe, accessories, props, hair/makeup direction, and other styling elements for assigned shoots, communicate styling plans and required items to the photo team before each shoot, assist with photoshoot setup and ensure styling is maintained throughout the shoot, direct models on posing, movement, and presentation when appropriate, and attend assigned photoshoots and make necessary styling adjustments throughout the session.

MODELS

Models represent The Edge during photoshoots and contribute to the creative execution of each story. You will attend all scheduled photoshoots on time, communicate availability promptly, work collaboratively with photographers and stylists during shoots, follow creative direction throughout each session.
