5 Ways to Get Yourself in Your Fall Feels

As September slips into October, so does summer slip into fall. And while North Carolina leaves don’t change quite the same as up north to spark our excitement about the changing of seasons, do not fret! Here are easy ways to get yourself in the fall vibes, even if it might not feel like fall just yet.

Candles

I’m sure this one is obvious, but to us, the easiest way for it to feel like fall, is if it smells like fall. What better way to do that than with an autumn candle to really set the mood? If you have a sweet tooth and love scents that feel like a warm hug, some of our favorites would have to be Caramel Pumpkin Swirl and Pumpkin Pecan Waffles from Bath & Body Works.

If you lean more toward that quintessential fall smell, we recommend the stereotypical Leaves candle, also from Bath & Body Works. Though if you’re looking for something more unique, a fan-favorite for every season of the year is Homesick candles. Depending on where you’re from, these candles transport you home. Many of their candles have notes of cinnamon, amber and clove, which are definitely fall faves. Don’t forget to always light your candles with your own  re-chargeable electric lighter from Amazon (seriously the BEST gift).

Blankets/Pillows

If you’re looking for a quick way to spruce up your living space, we highly recommend doing so with blankets and pillows. Not only do they bring the aesthetic of your apartment to a new level, but they add an unparalleled level of comfort.

String Lights

When the weather gets cooler, nothing sounds more appealing than snuggling up with a great book or movie. One of our all-time favorite ways to do so is with string lights. Whether it be with traditional fairy lights, or with these fall themed ball string lights, the dim amber glow provides the perfect setting for a scary Halloween movie or a Nicholas Sparks marathon.

Pumpkins

You can’t have fall without pumpkins. Try decorating with a combination of real or fake pumpkins to spruce up your living room, although they’re a small addition they pack a big punch. Trader Joe’s has cute miniature tiger striped pumpkins that are basically begging to be Instagrammed, but you can also pick up a set of white pumpkins from Amazon or check out Target’s $1 section in stores for cute copycat pieces.

Music

Lastly, there’s just something about fall that begs a new music vibe, and luckily, we’ve been on the hunt for a few of the best Spotify playlists.

This Fall Feels playlist is around seven hours of upbeat fall tunes with artists such as Quinn XCII, Madison Beer and Kane Brown.

This playlist features artists like Miley Cyrus, LANY, Khalid and more. It has more of a “looking out the window at a rainy day from the passenger seat” kind of vibe, and we’re totally here for it.

Finally, for more of an acoustic, mellow feel, this playlist checks all the boxes with The 1975, Ed Sheeran, The Lumineers and more. Maybe grab a box of tissues with this one, because we know it had us feeling some type of way.

And of course, we couldn’t have a fall music selection without mentioning folklore by Taylor Swift, or Pure Herione by Lorde, because come on, they’re iconic for the autumn weather.

Lastly for real this time, if you’re really in your fall feels, nothing’s stopping you from curling up in bed with your seasonal blanket, a fall candle lit, maybe your Himalayan Salt Lamp turned on, and reading a fall book to the sounds of calming piano music. When we think of fall, there’s really nothing else we can ask for.

Enjoy!
