@GigiJane__ on Instagram...Have You Heard of It?

Beaded bracelets are everywhere—VSCO, Instagram, boutiques, you name it. With this style becoming increasingly popular and young entrepreneurs experimenting with creating a portfolio on Instagram, Gabriella Gamba, a 23-year-old recent grad, decided to seize this opportunity with the creation of her jewelry business this summer.

Gamba started the business as a “fun hobby, rather than a business venture.” On a rainy day in July, she decided to make a few bracelets for herself and posted them onto her own Instagram account, when some friends reached out to her and asked for bracelets of their own, starting off free of charge of course. As time passed and beaded bracelets became more popular, Gabriella’s friends were sharing her bracelets on their own pages, which led to more friends and even strangers to contact her for customized styles. As the idea started to gain traction and there was in fact a demand for her creations, @GigiJane__ was born.

The photo above is Gigi Jane’s signature packaging, which also comes with a handwritten note (so thoughtful)! She explained that the customizable nature of her brand seems to draw customers in, bringing a personal touch to her bracelets. Since she uses letter bracelets to personalize upon request, she noted her most popular styles are bracelets that include monograms, school pride and nicknames. Gamba expressed that her “vote” bracelets have been popular too, given the proximity to the election.

Since Halloween is coming up, Gigi Jane has introduced some new signatures styles that customers seem to be loving! Her beads include classic Halloween characters like witches, skulls, bats, black cats, and pumpkins. Gamba expressed they are as spooky as any Halloween lover would hope for! She is still taking requests for personalized bracelets, which could also stay in keeping with the Halloween theme—her black letter beads lend themselves to festive creations, with customers requesting sayings like “BOO” “EEK” and “SPOOKY.” She plans on keeping up seasonal styles, so look out for her Christmas drop!

In order to grow her business, Gamba expressed during our conversation that self-advocacy is her main focus. She has learned that it is extremely important to put yourself out there and offer opportunities to share your work when possible. By starting simple conversations with local high schools and middle schools, she now has a number of larger opportunities to create bracelets for their students. This dedication to self-advocacy has allowed her to build relationships within the online community and find opportunities to collaborate with other entrepreneurs with similar ventures.
