Your Guide to a Successful ‘Everything Shower’

The ‘everything shower’ has taken the internet by storm. Here’s a step-by-step routine.

This new self-care trend can be split into three phases, pre-shower, shower and post-shower.

Pre-Shower:

  1. Pre-Shower hair mask: A deep-conditioning hair mask is the best way of protecting the ends of your hair from getting frizzy. Ouai’s Treatment Mask for Fine and Medium Hair ($38) restores hydration, repairs damage and adds shine.

  2. Dry Brushing: Dry brushing your skin can boost blood circulation and remove dead skin cells. Goop’s G.Tox Ultimate Dry Brush ($25) has an ergonomic handle for those “hard-to-reach places”.

  3. Setting the mood: Dimming the lights or playing music (Anything from spa sounds to Taylor Swift) with this Waterproof Shower Speaker ($23), you can completely transform your bathroom.

Shower:

  1. Body Scrub: A body scrub preps your body for a full cleanse, and Sol De Janiero’s Bom Dia Body Scrub ($42) has glycolic acid, salicylic acid and crushed maracujá seeds for unclogging pores, smoothing skin and giving your body a natural glow.

  2. Double Shampoo: A double cleanse can help get rid of scalp buildup and clean your hair. Olaplex’s No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo ($30) repairs, strengthens and nourishes all hair types.

  3. Conditioner: Conditioner on the ends of your hair protects from frizz, breakage and daily damage. Olaplex’s No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner ($30) repairs, strengthens and nourishes.

  4. Body Wash: A classic body wash is a necessity in any successful body shower. L’Occitane Cleansing and Softening Refillable Shower Oil With Almond Oil ($29) is cleansing and softening.

  5. Shave (if you want!) The shower can be the perfect place to shave, especially if you use the Billie Razor Kit ($10) with their Whipped Shave Cream ($8).

Post-Shower:

  1. Body Moisturizer (serum or oil): After a long, hot shower, your skin will need some extra moisture, and with Moroccanoil’s Body Butter Moisturizer ($38), the shea, mango and cocoa butter will nourish your skin!

  2. Leave-in Conditioner: To keep the glow in your hair lasting long after your shower, we recommend a good leave-in conditioner. Ouai’s Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave In Conditioner ($30) combats frizz and detangles at the same time!

  3. Face Mask: After all of the care you gave your body, you should do the same to your face! Glow Recipie’s Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial Mask ($40) exfoliates, smooths and softens skin.
