Your Weekend Guide To Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of the most magical cities in the world. After spending a weekend there while being abroad, we can confidently say that this city has so much to offer. From visiting various museums, walking around the streets, doing canal tours, seeing the Anne Frank House, trying all the food and roaming around the beautiful parks, it can definitely be overwhelming to try and fit all of this into one weekend. We are here to tell you that all of this is possible. Here are some recommendations for how to go about getting the most out of this phenomenal city in under three days!

First things first, we would recommend planning out what you would like to do before arriving and buying tickets for various museums and tours beforehand. Prior to arriving, we had booked a canal tour that lasted two hours, and we also got tickets for the Anne Frank House and Heiniken Museum. Having these three things already booked and planned into our schedule helped a lot when planning the rest of our free time.

We had planned on going out to dinner at one of the best burger places in Amsterdam. Personally speaking, they have one of the best veggie burgers and all different kinds of meat options to choose from on their menu. This restaurant is called Ter Marsch, and it has award winning burgers and friends.

Aside from having that one dinner reservation which we HIGHLY recommend, we didn’t plan out the rest of our meals because we wanted a chance to explore the city for ourselves and not be on a timed schedule. There are countless food options on every block, so being able to walk in and out of them to get different tastes of Amsterdam was a great way to explore the city.

We also signed up for a canal cruise which was a great way to experience the city with friends and learn more about the history of Amsterdam. There are a ton of different cruises on TripAdvisor, but definitely be sure to read the reviews before booking because some of them may not be rated very highly.

Amsterdam is a must-hit destination, whether you are studying abroad or looking for a fun vacation with family or friends. There are so many different types of activities for all ages.  From walking tours, exploring the canals, biking excursions and trying all the yummy foods, this place has it all!

P.S.: Yes, we did watch The Fault in Our Stars before arriving, because it is an obvious must before this trip. ;)
