Channelling Your Inner Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy

Twenty-four years later, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s timeless style is still just as iconic as it was all those years ago. The Calvin Klein publicist entered the public eye when she first started dating John F. Kennedy Jr. in 1994, and after two years, the pair got engaged. Carolyn wore a silk dress by Narciso Rodriguez and beaded sandals by Manolo Blahnik. Her look was so iconic that she is still one of the most influential wedding style inspirations today! After her wedding, we started to get a glimpse into her street style, which is still on the mood boards of fashion designers. Here at The Edge, we’re so obsessed with her street style that we had to make a guide to channeling her iconic looks (on a budget, of course).

We’ve been told not to pair black and brown together, but Bessette-Kennedy embraces it. If she ignores that statement, then so should we. This black turtleneck became her staple piece during the winter season with her pairing it with the iconic oval sunglasses. To get the look, we’ve paired this H&M top with these trousers. You can top it off with these sunglasses and this ZARA tote

Bessette-Kennedy couldn’t resist a floral dress during the springtime. With her long blonde hair flowing down her shoulders and her minimal makeup, she has proven that less is more. Try out this LPA dress from Revolve with these kitten heels to achieve this look.

Bessette-Kennedy wore this all-black outfit for a night out on the town with John F. Kennedy Jr.  This picture was taken over 25 years ago, yet the look is timeless and proves that she will never go out of style. We love this Skims dress paired with this Boohoo wool jacket to recreate the date night vibe.

As college students, we are always on the go, whether that is going to class, work or even just hanging out with friends. We don’t know about you, but we at The Edge love to dress comfy-casual. Bessette-Kennedy does a great job of this, and we can’t get enough of it! We were inspired to pair this oversized sweater from Princess Polly with these low rise jeans.

Twenety-four years later, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s legacy still lives on. We don’t just honor her style, but who she was as a person. Tag us at @thedgemag on Instagram if you recreate one of her looks!
