How To Rock Your Pajamas in Public
By Ellie Cook
Our back-to-school motivation has long worn off by now. Putting together cute, presentable looks in the morning has become more and more challenging. We all wish we could keep our pajamas on all day. Maybe it’s because you’re too lazy to change, or maybe it’s because your nightwear is too stylish not to show off (i.e. Holly’s iconic sleep mask in Breakfast at Tiffany’s), but there is a way to wear those PJ’s out in public – these looks will prove it.
For the most conservative of the pajama looks, throw a silky robe over regular outfits for a bohemian kimono look. This is a great option for hassle-free layering and adding a splash of pattern or color to an otherwise safe outfit. For budget-friendly additions to your robe collection, try this, this, and this.

For a sexier just-rolled-out-of-bed outfit, lingerie can be worn as a mini or maxi dress. Just add your go-to pair of frat shoes (maybe not stilettos like Kim Kardashian and Hailey Baldwin), and you’re ready for a night out. It’s easy to take a workplace spin on the look by adding a blazer for an unexpected grown-up look – think Jenna’s workwear in 13 Going on 30. For those of us who don’t already own pretty slips, this, this, and this are all great options.

Pair pajama button-up tops with ripped jeans and sneakers for a casual cool-girl vibe, or leave it open to wear as a jacket. Try the opposite by tucking a graphic T-shirt into pajama pants (bonus points if you add a cute blazer or jacket). For tops, I have my eye on this, this, and this, and I’m loving these, these, and these pajama bottoms.

If you’re feeling really bold, wear the entire set – this look is a celebrity favorite. Combine the outfit with a neutral, structured coat to keep it socially acceptable outside of the bedroom. Find stylish pajama sets worthy of a bedroom breakout here, here, and here.
