The “I’m Down for Whatever” Girl’s Guide to Actually Making Plans

We all know her. We are her. The “I’m down for whatever” girl. She’s easygoing, she’s flexible. The problem? She can’t make solid plans. Everyone wants to do something, but no one wants to be the decision-maker. It’s a tale as old as time.

With that said, this guide is for people like us. The indecisive folks, the low-effort socializers, the “I’ll go if you go” girls who need a little nudge to get those plans out of the groupchat. Here’s how to go from “whatever works” to “see you at 6!”

Step 1: Acceptance

Someone has to pick. Someone has to make a plan. We know, it’s not your thing. But we’re here for you every step of the way.

You don’t need a clipboard and itinerary, but suggesting just one hangout option will go a long way. People love a plan – they just don’t want to be the one to make it. Be the friend who says “let’s go to the beach this Saturday” rather than “let’s do something soon.” Watch how fast the “down for whatever” crowd assembles.

Step 2: Keep a Lazy Girl Agenda

If you’re the Type B friend like we are, we know your Notes app might be a chaotic place – half-finished to-do lists, old grocery lists, takeout orders from 2019. But we encourage you to find the time to jot down a list of low-effort plans that require minimal preparation. We promise it’ll come in handy. Here are some easy ideas to get you started:

  • Local hike + debrief

  • Thrift store + ice cream

  • Dinner at your favorite spot

  • Errands with friends

  • Rom-com night

  • Firepit in the backyard

Step 3: Don’t Overthink It

Not every hangout needs to be perfect. Some of the best nights just happen naturally with your favorite people. No need for cute outfits or charcuterie spreads every time (unless you want to, of course). You don’t need much, just good company.

Step 4: Make It Repeatable

Make it a habit and you’ll be more likely to keep it up. A weekly plan can quickly become a group tradition, something to count on with some people you love. Coffee runs every Monday, Sunday morning walks, reality TV night – something easy and relaxed. Set it up on a recurring basis and watch it become the routine hangout that everyone looks forward to. With plans set in place, you won’t have to coordinate from scratch every time. Nice and easy!

Being “down for whatever” is an awesome way to live. But being the one who makes it happen is even better. So send the text, pick the spot, and make it a fulfilling summer, one plan at a time. Your friends will thank you.

On behalf of Type B girls everywhere, we commend the friend group planners. You truly make the world go round.
