Falling in Love with Fall Semester
Oh how time has flown by! We are a little over a month into the fall semester which means classes, clubs, and college life is in full swing. With everything settling into a busy pace it’s easy to get overwhelmed and to lose that spark you may have brought to that first day of class- but it is never too late to bring back that spark!
We came up with just a few little ways to fall in love with fall semester.
Romanticize the simple
While you can’t change your homework, you can change the environment you do it in. Move the work to a scenic spot or change the mood of your study pace with aspects like lighting and ambience.
Let campus be your runway and explore your personal style. As you’re making it through the day you can get a boost by doing it in an outfit you’re confident in.
Have a soundtrack for the season. Take the time to build a playlist- or three, that captures your fall vibe, motivates you, or even makes you feel like you’re in a movie.
Slow it down
Start by walking a little slower and reframing how you’re thinking of your walk. Instead of it being a rush to the next thing or a trudge to somewhere you do want to go, shift your view to the walk being a time to enjoy your surroundings.
A good meal works wonders. Try to take time to have at least one slow, full meal a day, whether it’s a full breakfast in the quiet morning, lunch by the lake, or taking time to cook dinner with your roommate, slow down and enjoy.
Savor the memories in the making
It’s easy to lose the value of the present when life becomes one big to-do. Before we know it fall semester will have passed and we’ll be looking back at the memories we made. When you’re feeling overwhelmed or missing your spark just take a moment to realize you’re in the process of making memories you’ll look back on and miss. That small reframe may help bring some positivity and reground you in the moment.
There is truly no time like the present to make the changes you want and need to love your life even just a little bit more.
