“Livin’ like Lisbon”

With spring already on the horizon we’re saying goodbye to the winter blues with our newest obsession- the Lisbon look. This Portuguese and Spanish aesthetic embraces the art of mixing and matching, as well as the unpredictable combining of bold colors and patterns. If you have a pair of colorful ballet flats or Gazelles just laying around, chances are you already have half of the “uniform” covered. Now,  you just need to play around with your quirky closet staples and voila- you’ve mastered the look. You don't need to be swimming down the coast of Costa Brava or skipping down the streets of Barcelona to fit the vibe- it’s all about expressing your personality and embracing all of the chaos that comes with it. The lack of cohesion creates a beautiful and unexpected harmony that is intriguing, exciting and anything but boring. Now, we’re here to show you the women who taught us a thing or two on how to embrace the funk.

Luna Isabella is the Dutch 26 year old founder of the jewelry brand Funky and Fancy, who splits her time between Barcelona and Amsterdam,  the two cities that have influenced her unique and impeccable style. She has been the blueprint for all of the Barcelona fashion lovers looking to elevate their wardrobes to a whole new level. Handmade in BCN, this LAGAAM tie top is the perfect base for any old daytime look and allows for endless styling opportunities. These Nipon trousers from the Lisbon based label, SIENNA,  are an absolute must for anyone starting to branch into bold patterns, towing the line between elegant yet a out there. It’s the genius and unexpected incongruence and contrast between pieces that really make the vibe, so accessorizing is important when it comes to achieving the look. We’ve paired the Choreo Ballet Flat from Jeffrey Campbell with this CEFÉR satchel bag to complete a look we know that Luna would adore.

Sofi Montojo is a 20 year old student from Madrid who has grown her following immensely since 2022 by sharing her spirited style with all of us across her platforms. This look was inspired by her playful pairings of patterns, so the Cody top and Jules skirt from SIEDRÉS are a perfect duo for anyone looking to echo her looks. This beautiful quilted jacket by the talented Maria de la Orden, has swept the girls in Madrid, Paris, and the rest of us off our feet with such elegant craftsmanship. Finish off the look with any pair of colorful Adidas and a fun pair of sunnies like the The Cinnamon sunglasses from Jimmy Fairly, and you're ready to wow any room you walk into.

For those of you who aren’t already obsessed with her, let us introduce you to Caetana Botelho Afonso, the vibrant and ever so lively Lisbon native who has taken both Instagram and Tiktok by storm. She describes her style as “creative and improbable” and loves a funky sunglass probably more than anyone else we can think of. To emulate her look, we would pair this Parfois sequin halter with the infamous barrel jean from Citizens of Humanity. This look could be dressed up or worn more casually with your favorite New Balance, to juxtapose a more delicate accessory such as a silk hair scarf. Our Portuguese icons love a good knit, especially a good old showstopping piece. The Ofelia cardigan from the Argentine brand, Valentina Karnoubi, is one of many within their beautiful & one of a kind collections of impeccable quality and design.

Vicky Montanari is a 26 year old Lisbon based influencer who has been featured in Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, and countless European press outlets for her impeccable taste and exquisite styling. Arguably the star of the show in this Vicky-inspired look is this Poplin Peplum top from GANNI, which has been plastered all over our pinterest boards and FYPs. When it comes to the Lisbon look, one is never afraid to mix textiles, textures, or tones- so these plum velvet shorts and this cornflower blue wool pullover are the perfect complement to one another. In terms of accessories, we have another stunning flat from Alohas, which checks off the boxes in both the chic and comfort departments. A purse like this beaded shoulder bag  from Anthropologie can pull any look together, creating that chaotic cohesion that just makes the look make sense. And the best part about it - this bag only costs a fraction of its nearly identical counterpart from STAUD.

And last but not least we have Mafalda Patrício: new mom, content creator, model and stylist. To put it simply, she's a wonder woman. Patrício has a passion for pattern, and her eclectic style has influenced her near 150k instagram followers to embrace their inner wild side too. She would say ‘F-it’  to playing it safe when it comes to fashion, and this midi skirt set from Farm Rio does exactly that. Like we mentioned earlier, Funky & Fancy has a vast selection of affordable jewelry and accessories that will take any look one step further. Like its name implies- you're guaranteed to be looking fun and chic. The Lisbon look would not be complete without a staple pair of ballets, so we couldn’t help but to pair this look with these adorable Lilla Mary Jane Friulane flats from Viani.

We hope we’ve given you enough inspo for you to master the Lisbon look no matter where you are or where your days may take you! Happy shopping and happy March! Xx the Edge
