In With the Mob Wife

If you’ve scrolled through Tiktok in the new year, you’ve definitely come across the “Ins and Outs" trend. Here at The Edge, it's safe to say that  we are obsessed. While we love setting goals for personal growth and better habits, we are putting a little spin on this trend, and diving into the ins and outs of fashion aesthetics in the coming year.

Meet: the “Mob Wife”  aesthetic. Say hello to a smudged smokey eye and a loud red lip look, obnoxious but completely glamorous oversized faux fur coats, tight stockings, oversized sunglasses, and a pop of our favorite new staple: leopard print. This luxurious vibe is the complete opposite of the era we’ve been in since 2021: the clean girl era. So, say your final goodbye to slick back buns, minimal makeup, neutral colored outfits. The “effortless” look seems like it might be staying in 2023.

Before we get into how to emulate a mob wife, let's get some things straight. First, you don’t actually need to be the wife of someone associated with the mob (please steer clear of this.) Second, you definitely do not need the wealth that comes along with being a mob wife. The most important aspect of encapsulating this trend is to embrace its mentality. The style that this trend ultimately entails will manifest effortlessly for you after doing so. 2024 is all about going after your goals full force, being your most authentic self, and not letting anything get in the way, which is exactly the mindset we are bringing as we enter our mob wife era.

So, take all of that new information in, let it settle, and get ready to fully embody your inner mob wife. Where do you begin? One of our favorite aspects of the mob wife aesthetic here at The Edge is that you can make it your own - dressing it up or down to fit the occasion.

As the weather is getting nicer, let’s make a mob wife outfit for a sunny, yet still chilly day to grab brunch with friends. Grab a pair of baggier jeans, a tighter, slightly cropped long sleeved white tee, your favorite glamorous fur coat, and a pair of whatever heel you’d like. Now, accessorize! The top three accessories you need to capture this look perfectly are a bag, sunglasses, and loud jewelry.

We can’t wait to see how you embrace this trend this year! Tag us @theedgemag with your favorite mob wife looks.
