Bathing Suit Brand Guide

Frankies Bikinis

To be frank, Frankies Bikinis is our favorite brand of bathing suits. Malibu raised Francesca Aiello never liked how bathing suits fit her, so her mom encouraged her to get custom-made ones in Hawaii. After producing a couple of suits for friends whose posts went viral on social media, Frankies Bikinis was born. Francesca was the youngest designer at the Miami Swim Week in 2014, with star-studded models like the Jenner sisters, Hadid sisters, and Hailey Bieber walking the runway in her line. Although a pricey brand, Frankies Bikinis is money well spent. These sexy designs are flattering and Francesca has even updated her website to include plus-sized models showcasing a wide range of body types. We suggest sizing up in tops since they tend to run small. Splurge on a matching bathing suit and coverup sets this summer. Good news for students! Find Frankies Bikinis on their website, through their Instagram, or in stores like Free People, Revolve, Victoria’s Secret and Intermix.

Target

Just like its tagline, “Expect More. Pay Less,” tried and true Target hit the bullseye in bathing suits. Growing in popularity on social media over the past decade, viral TikTok trends have centered on Target bathing suits including the “Coconut Girl Bathing Suit,” “Purple Bathing Suit,” and “Green Bathing Suit” highlighting their affordability and bright colors. With an easy-to-use website for online shoppers, bathing suits are categorized by style and shape to help you find the perfect fit. The website also features popular brands such as Xhilaration, Kona Sol, Shade & Shore and Aqua Green. While you might pay less, the quality meets all expectations. Personally, the only downside I have noticed is that the bottoms tend to be a bit baggier which some might call a “granny panty.” All in all, Target is a comfortable, affordable, place to shop for your summer swimwear.

Triangl

The Australian brand, Triangl is known for having fun colors that make you stand out on the beach contrasting a golden tan. Unfortunately, Triangl’s customer service has not lived up to its hype. The shipping and returns are not so easy, and buying from this online store can be challenging. Bathing suits might take about a month to come in the mail, surpassing the 14-day return timeframe. For a more expensive bathing suit, the material lacks in quality, such as the bottoms feeling so thick, almost like you are wearing a diaper. Also, after time either at the pool or on the beach, the bright colors start to fade. You might want to stick to a summertime photoshoot in these bathing suits away from the water or just take a pass and opt for a more economical brand.

Aerie

Aerie, or aerie, intimate apparel owned by American Eagle Outfitters has comfy pajamas, sweats, undergarments and awesome bathing suits. Its free shipping and free returns make this site super easy to navigate. Featuring more muted colors, the baby blues and neutrals are a beachy aesthetic. Aerie’s motto, “Love yourself. Love your swim,” is impactful as they put their all into promoting body positivity and being confident during the warmer months. Aerie is a win with high-waisted bottoms, criss cross cuts and ruched tops and we hope that you will love it as well. Keeping on-trend, they always have great sales and amazing deals to watch for online and in stores. Visit the American Eagle store in Burlington and an Aerie store in Greensboro.

Abercrombie & Fitch

Abercrombie & Fitch is making a comeback, especially in the bathing suit department. The cutouts and fabric of the suits are chic and stylish. Mature halter tops and ribbed pastels are flooding their website and the prices are a happy medium for what you are getting. We are obsessed with the online feature button “How to Style This” illustrating various different coordinating outfits and accessories. Check out the numerous coverups: a sarong, cutout knit mini dress, crochet shorts and terry skirts paired with a straw hat and beach waves. Florals, sparkles, and strappy sandals are super trendy. As CEO Fran Horowitz states, “Abercrombie isn’t a brand where you need to fit in it’s one where everyone truly belongs.”

We hope that you show off your bathing suit styles this summer and don’t forget to tag @theedgemag while relaxing at the pool or beach!
