The Bridgerton Effect

The television series that took the world by storm is back for its second season, and surely not its last. This season will follow Viscount Bridgerton and his search for a wife. Last season had an impact like no other on the fashion and beauty world, and this season is no different. Here are some of the most notable pieces from Bridgerton that have made their way back into our society, but now they look a little different.

Floral Dresses

Ever since the second season of Bridgerton aired on Netflix, there has been a surge of searches for floral dresses. When it comes to the Bridgerton family, there is no lack of stunning dresses. Though they might not be seen as the highest fashion today, they are pieces of art. Floral dresses are a staple item; while the style of dress might change with time, this pattern isn't going anywhere

Corsets

The Bridgerton women sure know their way around a corset, shown by the number of balls they attend and the gowns they wear. The ladies of the elite society are no strangers to the (literally) breathtaking corsets that they must wear under all their dresses. Today, almost every fashion company has a corset-like shirt. Everyone knows the infamous Urban Outfitters lace corset top that is in almost every girl's closet, or the more accurate Amazon corset top that many wore for Halloween costumes and even to dress as the Bridgerton cast. Though women no longer wear corsets under all their outfits, they are beginning to wear a different style of them as outerwear and nightlife attire.

Tiaras

What would a Viscountess be without her tiara? The Bridgertons have the most beautiful tiaras full of gems, which they wear quite frequently. They are beautiful accessories to their lovely gowns and really make an impact. Today, a lady does not wear a tiara as much as a Bridgerton, but they are definitely making a comeback thanks to the show. Today, you can find a woman wearing a tiara at a wedding or big event. Red carpet looks are beginning to incorporate tiaras and headpieces. They make women stand out, draw your attention to their face and hair and, most importantly, they make a girl feel like a princess — what more could you want?

The Natural Bridgerton Glow

The ladies of Bridgerton have a glow to them, and not just the diamond of the season. The Bridgerton ladies wear very minimal makeup; they use it to accentuate aspects of their complexion rather than change it. The characters allow their inner beauty to shine, rather than covering it up with a face full of eccentric makeup. Today, the natural look is coming back. The “no makeup, makeup” tutorials show women how to put on a full face of makeup all while looking like you just got out of bed but in a refreshed way.

Puffy Sleeves

The Bridgerton woman sure knows how to dress; their gowns are long, lovely and always accompanied by a puffy sleeve. After season one dropped, the amount of clothing with puffy sleeves began to rise, and the trend is still as big as ever. Today, many brands make shirts and dresses with puffy sleeves — some more extreme, some sheer and some with fun designs. The sleeves add another layer to the clothing; they accentuate one's arms and add a little spice to the outfit.

It is amazing how a fictional world and its characters can have such an impact on aspects of modern society. Bridgerton has become a cultural phenomenon that has been very influential in the world of fashion and beauty. As the show continues, we here at The Edge hope that its fashion and beauty influence does, too. Maybe one day we will all be looking like royalty.
