How to Find Your Style

Finding your style can seem like a daunting task. Trends are constantly changing, sometimes slightly and sometimes dramatically, making us want to stay in our comfort zone even if it doesn’t represent us. However, we encourage you to step out of your comfort zone this spring and try something new! Here are some of our favorite tips to keep your wardrobe fresh for the new season and fully realize your own personal style.

1. Throw out what doesn’t properly represent you

Look through the pieces you already have and donate or sell whatever you do not want. We all have those pieces that we dread trying to style or pieces that have gone out of style, so toss them! Some great places to sell your clothes include Shopify, Etsy, Poshmark and The RealReal.

2. Make a Pinterest board of ideas

Take inspiration from Pinterest and celebrity posts. If you keep an organized board of what you want to dress like, you are more likely to resemble it. You need to have a general idea of your new style to achieve it, so make a new board! Make multiple boards if you are having trouble deciding between different looks. You may come up with a happy medium that you will adopt. Don’t be scared of indecisiveness.

3. Research stores

There are seemingly endless numbers of methods to use and places to shop. Look at different shops and their aesthetics online. Take note of what pieces work for you if they match your desired style. See what various sources show on their websites and learn how you can incorporate their pieces into your closet and wardrobe.

4. Incorporate statement pieces

Don’t be afraid to try new statement pieces. It is great to freshen up your closet with a few bold choices. Some examples would be heels with a print, a loud blazer, a snake-skin belt — anything that is more “out there” and makes you feel confident.

5. Use the rule of three

When deciding what to buy, don’t choose all statement pieces. Instead, mix it up with some staples. A good way to start looking for the right mixes and matches is to find something you can wear three different ways. An example could be a cute white cropped shirt. It could be paired with jeans, a skirt, shorts or a dress pant. Find versatile items that you could feel comfortable wearing in different mediums.

Finding your style can be intimidating and require a bit of effort, but it will be so rewarding once actualized. Know what you like, take the time to search out different looks and confidently own your style.
