The Baby Tee Trend

From bold eyeliner, mom jeans, bucket hats, and fanny packs- as expected, trends from the 90s are coming right back for us to either be haunted or fully embrace. Baby tees are a classic, comfortable staple that might be worth dusting off from the back of your mom’s closet. The cool-girl trend has come back, helping people utilize a basic piece of clothing, creating a non-basic look. Your wardrobe will thrive off of a baby tee in any setting- you can add one to your favorite sweatpants or underneath a loose-fitting blazer. The style elevates any look with a clean, fun finish. Not to be confused with the modern-day cropped top, the shrunken-down version of a regular t-shirt pays ode to many ‘90s icons.

The Original Baby Tee

According to Vogue Magazine, Linda Meltzer is the stylist who made baby tees happen in the ‘90s. She used to rummage through flea markets and thrift stores looking for different versions of children’s size French-cut T-shirts from the 1970s. She was a music video and film stylist in the early 1990s and became so obsessed with the tightly fitting, shrunken tops that she decided to start making her own, founding Pretties. Meltzer’s designs have been seen on Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Coppola, Naomi Campbell, and featured twice in Clueless. Those same designs continue to be reachable today on Pretties’ website.

The beauty of tees is that they can be plain and simple or have a bold look through eye-turning graphics. The designs Réalisation Par features are filled with color and daring statements.

The Basic Baby Tee

Having a basic baby tee that you can mix in and out of any outfit will never fail. Layering a plain colored t-shirt underneath styles adds more comfort and dimension to a look. There is a wide range of basics that you can uncover for multiple price ranges and materials. H&M carries baby tees for less than $10.

The Comfy Baby Tee

In a tiny top, comfort is key. With-Jean carries the best quality baby tees made from a very stretchy, thick material that does not lose its shape.

The Textured Baby Tee

Finding everyday basics can come in many forms of textures and designs. Venturing into a waffled baby tee or a pointelle textured top can add depth to your collection.

The Baby Tank

A shrunken tank can work just as well as a shrunken tee. Pairing nicely with jeans, trousers, or shorts, the design isn’t limited to only t-shirts.
