The New Coffee on the Block: Brewbike

What started as a mobile coffee bike run by students at Northwestern University has now turned into a business bigger than any of them could have ever imagined! Brewbike was made by students, for students so kids on college campuses could have more access to better and more affordable coffee than the brew provided in the dining halls.

Brewbike is made up of 100% students, from the baristas to the campus CEOs. It’s important to have access to these opportunities for student employment on campus, and the ability for students to start their business ventures early.

Brewbike sells their own brand of coffee marketed towards college students; they sell blends such as OG (original), Choccy (mocha), and Cinnamon sugs (cinnamon sugar). The fun names are just one of the reasons that this cute new company is spreading its caffeine love to campuses nationwide.

Brewbike has made coffee simple. Making the perfect cup only requires one cup of water, one brew bag and you’re done. The benefits of this make it so easy for a college student to make a healthy cup of coffee in the morning. The coffee is also $18 a bag, which boils down to $1.40 per cup of coffee- amazingly affordable.

Finding good coffee on campus is hard. We here at The Edge understand that everyone has “their coffee,” the coffee you like the best and will do anything to have. However, do you really know what's in it? Coffee is such a sneaky drink because it is something that can range from around 5 calories and no added sugar to thousands of calories and more sugar than the average person's supposed daily intake.

Brewbike coffee uses spice blends and different healthy alternatives to make their coffee taste just as good but without all the added sugar. For example, their Pumpkin Spice holiday blend used real spices to obtain the flavor we have all grown to love. This is a great alternative compared to other coffees that use sugary syrups to obtain the flavor pallet that Brewbike can naturally. Brewbike also has an array of nut milk, too, for those who prefer it to dairy- again adding another layer of health benefits to their company.

This healthy and affordable coffee brand being available on campus is a great addition to Elon University. Brewbike truly matches the morals that Elong dining stands by when it comes to eating right and providing options for all students.
