7 Loungewear Outfits Inspired By Some of the Most Iconic Vogue Covers

While we’re all stuck at home, tied to a new life consisting solely of loungewear, we can’t help but crave a little glamour. As the weeks have gone on, we've begun seeking outfit inspiration from anywhere we can find it. We've recreated every celebrity loungewear outfit we've seen and tie-dyed our hearts out. Now, we're turning to the ultimate source of fashion inspiration for a little help. We're revisiting some of Vogue's most iconic covers, and attempting to turn them into loungewear-worthy looks. Because really, who said wearing loungewear everyday had to be boring?

The monotonous daily quaran-routine has become just that—the same thing over and over again. This lifestyle has led us to wear identical sweatshirts and sweatpants every day, and accessories have almost become a thing of the past. But no more. We crave the sartorial lives we led B.Q. (Before Quarantine). And honestly, when else have we had enough time on our hands to figure out how to craft Vogue-worthy looks that are both budget-friendly and incredibly comfy?

Anna Wintour once said, “Some people have the Bible. I have Vogue.” And now might be the time to wholeheartedly embrace that sentiment—to look toward the guiding book of fashion for inspiration and to finally bid adieu to loungewear monotony. For the sake of Vogue, the fashion community, and our once-fashionable selves B.Q., it’s time to do some retail therapy and jazz things up. New loungewear, new you. (And really, new all of us.)

1. The Vogue 2018 September Issue, AKA the biggest issue of the year, featured the one and only Beyoncé. Decked out in a massive flower headdress and basking in the sun, Queen Bey looked nothing short of majestic. While loungewear is not typically thought of as “majestic,” you can still emulate the golden, floral tones of this Vogue cover with light, flowy flare pants, a cozy white sweater, and some pops of color via socks and scrunchies. Light a nice flower-scented candle, turn on Beyoncé, and strut down your living room runway.

2. This Vogue Korea cover featuring Soo Joo Park gives us major boss b*tch vibes. Are you struggling to feel productive and on top of everything right now? Well, a sleek, sharp, and Vogue-approved outfit might be the thing that helps you get on your grind. Business up top with a tailored crewneck, and comfy on the bottom with sophisticated black joggers or flare lounge pants.

Since we haven’t been able to go get our eyebrows done for months now, let’s face it, they need some TLC. Finish off the look with some Soo Joo-inspired, DIY power brows to prove that you mean business.

3. In a way, our current lives aren’t all that different from Marie Antoinette’s. She practically never left her house and was surrounded by the same people every day in a confined space. Sure, her confined space was Versailles, but if you play some French music, eat a macaron, and close your eyes, you’re basically her! The only thing missing is a boujee lounge outfit.

This September 2006 Vogue cover of Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette beautifully blends glamour and drama. Even if we’re just at home with our families, sometimes a night of relaxation (enjoyed in the most extra way possible) can help relieve pent-up stress. A soft, satin nightgown paired with a floral silk robe and feathered slippers will have family members mistaking you for Queen Marie herself. Top off the relaxing night with a soothing rose face mask and hydrating face mist.

4. Very little in this world can top Vogue Paris or Rihanna—let alone, the two combined. This particular cover from 2017 blends together the classic French palette—black, white and red—with a little je ne sais quoi to offer a brilliant mix of ooh la la and edgy. The current restraints of the world may prevent us from galavanting around Paris in a leather beret, but donning some cool loungewear is definitely the next best thing.

Pair a graphic sweatshirt with bright red joggers and black fuzzy slide sandals to achieve Rihanna’s Parisian style. Finish off your quarantine-approved look with a matching face mask.

5. Girl power, anyone? It’s hard to forget this iconic March 2017 Vogue cover featuring a plethora of supermodels clad in patterned prints and strong turtlenecks. Emulate these stylish ladies with patterned flowy lounge pants and a cozy knit black turtleneck. In case of warmer weather, trade out the pants for patterned biker shorts paired with a lightweight crewneck. Finish off the look with a chic headband to stunt in those Zoom calls. Then, bring the beach to your home with an ocean scrub to give you a supermodel glow.

6. One of the newer editions to the Vogue family, Vogue Arabia was first published in 2017. This stunning cover from 2018, featuring supermodels Imaan Hammam and Iman, screams sophistication and elegance with plenty of glamour.

You can achieve this boujee look at home with a few simple items to enhance your loungewear wardrobe. A chic black sweatshirt, emblazoned with white embroidery or sheer detailing, paired with a flowy, white midi skirt offers the perfect balance of comfort and class. Big, black framed blue light computer glasses are not only practical, but will complete the look.

7. Kaia Gerber, genetically perfect spawn of supermodel mom Cindy Crawford, graced the cover of Vogue Paris in October 2018 with a brightly colored, half face of makeup. That’s essentially what we’re doing right now too, half getting ready every morning. Celebrities, they’re just like us!

Inspired by the primary colors and retro feel of the cover, color blocked loungewear and mesh scrunchies are the perfect fit. A comfy crewneck or quarter zip paired with pale sweatpants or color blocked exercise shorts will brighten your day and inspire you to cross things off your ever growing list.
