Breaking Down Our Skincare Routine
Taking care of your skin is so important. A good skin care regimen can fight wrinkles, balance out your skin, even out texture and so much more. You certainly don’t have to have a thirty-step routine, but making sure you at least moisturize regularly and give your skin what it needs will pay off in the long run. The trick is to find products you love and make your routine something to look forward to at the end of the day. Watching your skin improve over time is satisfying alone, but finding new products and testing out different things can be really fun as well. A routine is whatever you make it, so don’t feel like you have to include every step or go out and buy a million products. This is just an idea of what our routine looks like!
Step 1: Cleanser, Always!
If nothing else, you should always wash your face. This is absolutely crucial not only for general hygiene, but to make sure you always have a clean surface for makeup, skincare, or just your natural glow. We recommend:
Step 2: Toner
Toner helps even out your complexion and get rid of any leftover dirt or oils. A swipe with a cotton pad makes your skin feel extra clean and hydrated. These are our favs:
Thayers Witch Hazel Toner (A much cheaper option!)
Step 3: Serum
Full disclosure, the purpose of serum is still a little unclear. That being said, it does do wonders for hydrating your skin. If you don’t buy into all of the benefits of it, at least try it for its moisturizing power. A good serum can add that extra layer of hydration your skin will love. We recommend:
Step 4: The Classic- Moisturizer!
Hands down the most important (besides face wash) for maintaining hydrated skin. You can skip all of the other steps as long as you use moisturizer regularly. We are loving:
Drunk Elephant (Definitely a splurge, but well worth it!)
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream
Step 5: Eye Cream
Because it’s never too early to prevent wrinkles and fine lines. Plus, it can help brighten under eye bags! Our favs:
Honest Beauty Deep Hydration Eye Cream
This is a somewhat lengthy routine, but we see it as pampering your skin at the end of the day. Be sure to check out our other articles on how to keep your skin hydrated this winter!
