Cold Weather Outfits for Cuffing Season

Cuffing season is the period from October to March where people couple up to combat the cold and loneliness that us single people feel every other part of the year. We feel like everywhere we turn we see another couple. It seems that as soon as Hailey and Justin Bieber tied the knot, everyone started trying to find a cuddle buddy. Dating can be scary, but don't worry at all! We are here to help you with the perfect ensembles to turn up the heat for any date, no matter HOW frigid the temperature may get.

The plunge into the painful 30-degree weather and the color-changing leaves are enough to make anyone want to snuggle under a cozy blanket with their loved one. But, for those nights that you want a sexy night out, throw on a teddy coat over a vintage band tee and some black ripped jeans (extra points if it’s his favorite band). Add some leopard print booties and you’re ready to take on any guy. Trust us, our affinity for animal print isn’t slowing down any time soon, and neither should yours.

For another look, try incorporating a patterned skort with black tights and a knit sweater. Casual, comfy, and cute— he won’t be able to take his eyes off of you. But, for those dinner dates when you want to look killer, we always find ourselves coming back to those flirtatious little black dresses. And anyone who says simple and sophisticated is out does not deserve to be cuffed. To balance a classy LBD, we tend to rely on bold accessories. Recently, The Edge staff has been thriving by adding a touch of nostalgic neon or statement earrings. Check out Target’s Wild Fable line for hot pink hoops and gold lightning bolt earrings.

We almost forgot to mention the most important part of your date… your shoes. As Carrie Bradshaw continues to remind us, your shoes can make or break an outfit. When going to those Insta-worthy fall dates (we’re huge advocates for the classic apple picking moment), we recommend some stylish, chunky white sneakers. We’re obsessed with the ones from Buffalo London and Windsor Smith. Although unbelievably comfortable and cute, sometimes your strikingly stunning sneakers just won’t cut it. We know, it hurts our soul too.

For drinks at the bar or a party, you can never go wrong with the versatile and transitional black heeled boots (that you wouldn’t mind getting ruined, of course). Last but certainly not least, heels are a must for romantic dinners with your lover. With the incoming surge of flashback fashion, the ‘90s platform heels are a great addition to your outfit.

So, go put your leggings away and get off the couch, girl. You’re done with nights alone sobbing to "The Notebook as you finish that pint of Half Baked Ben & Jerry’s. We’ve all been there, but you’ve got a heartthrob to impress. When you look your best, you feel your best. Go on and glow with the confidence of the bad*** you know you are.

If you try out any of our date night outfit suggestions, have your sweetheart take a picture of your fierce ensemble, and post it with the hashtag #elonootd and be sure to tag us @TheEdgeMag.
