Spring Break Essentials

With spring break approaching, it’s important to have a list of must-haves to bring wherever break may take you. With this in mind, here are some warm-weather essentials for travel.

I always make sure to use a bag that will fit all of my essentials into it without it feeling too stuffed or too big to carry. I usually use my Michael Kors bag, but H&M and Top Shop always have great bags for travel.

I always make sure to have a pen on me for anything I might need to write down. This pen is from Stabilo –  I love Stabilo because they have such cute colors and the pen tip is the perfect size for everyday usability. I got a pack of 30 for about $15, and it’s totally worth it.

I recently got into “bullet journaling” and I always make sure to bring my journal, which I use as both a planner and a journal for doodles or notes. This one is a Leuchtturm 1917 journal (can be bought here).

NARS MASCARA

I love this mascara because it makes my lashes look super long, which is nice when I’m not wearing a lot of makeup.

MOISTURIZER

Especially when you’re traveling somewhere warm, it’s crucial to have moisturizer with you to nourish your skin after a long day in the sun. This one is Charlotte Tilbury (definitely a splurge) but Neutrogena has great, affordable moisturizers!

ANASTASIA GLOW KIT

My Anastasia glow kit is probably my most prized possession. I love bronzing and highlighting, especially in the spring and summer, because it makes my skin glow.

A LIGHTER-COVERAGE FOUNDATION

I can’t be the only person who hates having a thick, full face of makeup when it’s hot out! This Bobbi Brown foundation is perfect because it’s super light and perfect for a warm day when you just want a bit of coverage.

SUNGLASSES

In order to prevent early skin aging, wear sunglasses. Not only do they stop you from squinting, but they protect your eyes as well. Plus, they look cute and add a sense of uniqueness to every outfit. And they don’t have to be expensive! I got these from Walgreens for $10 and they’ve lasted me over 2 years.

HAIR OIL

I know when I get out of a pool or the salty beach water, my hair feels dry and coarse for days. This L’Oreal luminous oil serum is perfect and instantly makes your hair look and feel alive again.

TINTED SUNSCREEN

I randomly got this one in a Birchbox one month, and it was the first time I had ever heard of tinted sunscreen. I hate wearing actual makeup at the beach and sunscreen is a necessity, so this is perfect because it gives you a little coverage while also giving great protection from the sun. Don’t let the rays damage your beautiful skin!

LIP BALM / CHAPSTICK

My lips, oddly enough, get drier in the summer than they do in the winter, so I always make sure I have some kind of lip balm or chapstick with me just in case.

HEADPHONES

I really like listening to music while reading at the beach, and plane rides are much more bearable with headphones, so I bring mine with me everywhere I go.

A GOOD BOOK

I’m a real sucker for romance novels and I read them like crazy, so I always make sure I have a book (or a few) with me when I travel – reading on the beach is one of my absolute favorite things. And I would highly recommend this book (Stay With Me by Mila Gray) – it’s amazing.

BIKINI / BATHING SUIT

Lastly, you can’t forget your favorite bikini. I don’t know if it’s just me, but when I wear a bikini I really love, it makes me feel beautiful, empowered and makes the day so much better.
